Not only keeping your shoes safe on their travels, the shoe box can be a very useful thing!
We’ve wrapped them up and used them to grow daffodils, and now we’ve made some super cute storage solutions – so you can store keepsakes, photos, or even your shoes in your very own mini suitcase.
Here’s how we did it – just follow these simple steps!
Take your empty shoe box and draw your design with a thick black marker. You don’t have to be too neat – you can always touch it up later!
Once you’re happy with the design, paint it using thick pain such as acrylic. Again, don’t worry if you go over the lines! Paint a side at a time and wait for it to dry before moving onto the next one, so you don’t smudge the paint or get it all over! Using a big sheet of card, a few layers of newspaper or a waterproof sheet will help to protect carpets and worktops.
When all of the paint is dry, go over your lines again to really make them stand out. We love the cartoonish, hand-made effect! Don’t forget to paint the insides too, or you could even line them with a funky patterned fabric!
And that’s it! Super quick and easy to make, these compact suitcases look much better than plain boxes on top of your wardrobe, and their size lets them sit comfortably on bookshelves too. Keep your photos and trinkets organised – you could even make mini luggage tags so you’ll always know what’s inside!
