Customer Reviews:

"!"

With an unrivalled brand selection and key focus on good, honest customer service, the Charles Clinkard store in Cheltenham is prominent within the Montpellier area. Opening in September 2004, the store has two members of staff older than it is! They were retained from the previous specialist footwear retailer, Herrings, on the same site, and they brought with them their expert knowledge and skills. Providing a great range of men’s and women’s footwear and accessories, all customers are memorable at this store, which is managed by Jayne. Still remembered today are Mr and Mrs Christmas, who ordered from them one December!

The store sits along a number of the town’s main bus routes, and on street parking is available along the many surrounding streets. A 6 minute taxi ride from the store stands the Cheltenham Spa Railway Station.

Cheltenham’s motto, Salubritas et Eruditio meaning 'health and education' is evident as you uncover the regency spa town’s history. It has been a health and holiday spa town resort since the discovery of its mineral springs in 1716, and has numerous internationally renowned and historic schools. Located on the edge of the Cotswolds, it is a prime location for both lovely little eateries and independent boutiques alike.

The Montpellier area of the town, where Charles Clinkard is set, takes pride in its array of independent shops and beautiful Montpellier gardens opposite the store. The town as a whole exudes history, with museums and grand spa buildings, and the recently restored wishing bubble blowing clock in Regent Arcade- a little gem you can’t miss! There is a charming little independent coffee shop called Café Del Art, offering home cooked continental food and an unrivalled gluten free menu including the best gluten free brownies you’ve ever eaten! The Ivy Brasserie opened in December 2017 a few doors down from the store, offering rich and nutritious meals to treat yourself to, during your stay in the area. Also known for its many festivals and its racecourse, the town caters for all tastes.

The hands-on manager, Jayne, spends the majority of her time on the shop floor assisting both customers and her superb team, (also her favourite part of the job!). Her earliest memory of the company was when Charles Clinkard opened a concession within the company she used to work for. She was approached by a former Charles Clinkard area manager and offered to attend an interview for a floor manager role at Bristol, where she consequently worked for four years before applying to become the manager of Cheltenham upon its opening. 16 years on, her team and her stores top customer service motivate her to succeed. Keen baker and lover of books, she was a special Constable with the Gloucestershire Constabulary and has an obsession for peanut butter, as well as for her 21 month old little girl!

Her pick of shoes in store at the moment are the Gabor Lilia in grey suede. Her favourite pair ever purchased were some black and white Peter Kaiser flats from Charles Clinkard, which lasted her for many years! Upon winning the lottery, she would continue with this brand appreciation and buy herself a range of Peter Kaiser shoes, due to their comfort, style and great fit.
