Customer Reviews:

Pleasant staff in Stratford on Avon, ordered shoes and had them delivered to my house, nothing was a problem, received shoes a few days later, excellent.

Service excellent. Gilly at Stratford on Avon was brilliant and my posh trainers are really comfortable.

I bought shoes from Stratford shop on the Monday. I wanted the wine colour rather than the brown, so the assistant said she would call and order them and they would be posted to me by Friday, no extra charge. I received them on the Thursday morning post, they were exactly the right colour and size. I am very pleased, my experience was all good, I will be back. Thank you all for making it effortless smooth and rewarding.

About the Shop

Just off Stratford’s main high street, the Charles Clinkard store is found along Sheep Street, a location that was once a bustling sheep market. Previously a Co-Op furniture store in the 70s and a grand post office in the 60s, the former resident sold shoes at the site for over twenty five years making it a well-established spot for Charles Clinkard to take over. The spacious store was the first of the company’s new style double fronted aspect to the store, and it stands out in comparison to other specialist shoe shops in the area because of its extensive brand range and keen focus on customer service. Simon manages the store, which provides a great selection of men’s, women’s, boys and girls shoes and accessories as well as an expert fitting service. Their most memorable customers include the actor David Bradley, who played Filch in Harry Potter - unforgettable as he always had time for children who recognised him in store.

Paid parking is found on Sheep Street, and although very convenient for the store, it is limited to one hour. If you wish to stay longer, a five minute walk from the store is the Bridgeway Multi Storey Car Park. Bus links are dotted around the surrounding streets, and Stratford’s Railway Station is a 12 minute walk away.

About the Area

Stratford upon Avon is the world-famous birthplace of the English playwright and poet William Shakespeare, a charming market town located upon the River Avon. As a result, there are many Shakespeare related attractions you cannot go without visiting! The major production company Royal Shakespeare Company puts on regular productions, step into Tudor life at Tudor World (the only museum in the country dedicated to Tudor times), and take a trip down Henley Street to wonder at the house where William Shakespeare was born. The Stratford upon Avon Butterfly Farm is something every eye should see, and a boat trip down the River Avon would provide a unique view of the market town and all of its distinctive buildings.

Following a successful shopping trip at the town’s Charles Clinkard store, unwind at The Fourteas, a quirky 1940s themed tearoom specialising in home-cooked food. Try the Cheddar Cheese and in-house-made pickle sandwich with a Cappuccino topped with cocoa powder in the shape of a British flag!

About the Manager

Simon has been with the company for over 15 years, since Charles Clinkard took over the Stead and Simpson store he was previously managing. He remembers Charles Clinkard well as he worked alongside Julian Clinkard when they were both trainee managers for K Shoes. He has managed the Stratford store since it opened in 2008.

His usual day starts early, checking all aspects of the store are ready for the day ahead and briefing his team on all necessary information and the day’s expectations upon each of their arrival times. His chief focus is ensuring that all customers are served and provided with the best possible service. The combination of happy customers leaving his store, the great product he gets to sell, and the responsibility for each of his teams individual growth motivate him to succeed each and every day.

Simon's favourite pair of shoes ever purchased were some Timberland boots which lasted 18 hard years of use. Upon winning the lottery, the only shoes he will be wearing will be flip flops while he sits at his beach side home relaxing!
