Customer Reviews:

I shopped in your shop in Wetherby and had a browse but couldn't see what I was looking for. The assistant who served me followed me out of the shop and asked me if she could help. I explained that I couldn't find what I had seen on line. She took me back into the shop brought the item I wanted up on the internet, ordered it for me and had it sent to my address. I wish I'd done that before as there has been a couple of occasions when I had seen something but couldn't find it in the shop. The whole process was so efficient, the assistant who served extremely helpful and very pleasant. In fact, it was a pleasure to have shopped in that shop.

I like Clinkard’s. The staff at both the Wetherby store and the Keswick store are welcoming and helpful. Furthermore, you sell good quality shoes!!

Excellent online service and products. Plus, due to my feet I had to order two sizes to find best fit. The second pair was returned to Wetherby shop. Very helpful and friendly staff, thank you very much. Have used Charles Clinkard for decades and always found them to be excellent. Outstanding service both online and on the high street.

About the Shop

The Horsefair Shopping Centre is a popular shopping destination in Wetherby, made up of retail giants like Morrison’s, Marks and Spencer and Boots.  This is the convenient residence of the Charles Clinkard store, and has been for over 20 years. Park in Morrison’s car park (free for 2 hours if you’re a customer) or the Wilderness Car Park, which with 185 spaces, is also free for 2 hours.  The town’s bus station is a 5 minute walk from the store, a hub for the town’s local and regional bus and coach links.

Prominent within the historic market town for its modern exterior, nice environment and pleasant staff, Charles Clinkard makes a statement in Wetherby with its recent renovations. Managed by Mark, the store stocks an exciting mix of men’s, women’s, boys and girls footwear and accessories, and provides a specialist fitting service! Like Mrs Hunter, one of the store’s well known regulars, every loyal customer is valued by the store, culminating in a warm, community feel upon entering.

About the Area

Settled on the banks of the River Wharfe, the historic market town previously a prominent crossing place and staging post on the old Great North Road between London and Edinburgh, Wetherby consequently has an abundance of historic coaching inns. Also known for its racecourse, the quaint town offers many eateries offering quality home cooked food, including No.23 The Market Place Delicatessen where you can grab a panini and coffee while you chill out following a successful spending spree. Follow this up with a walk by the River Wharfe, beautiful on a summer’s day with an ice cream in-hand. Conclude the day with a visit to the Swan and Talbot, one of the town’s oldest coaching inns (first licenced in 1678!) for some traditional pub grub and a snapshot of the town’s past.

About the Manager

Ginny starts her day at 8.15am where she will write a task list, check emails and make sure the windows are looking commercial and tidy. The rest of her day centres around selling on the shop floor, supporting customers and staff with anything they need. Some days involve deliveries and therefore store merchandising, and some include staff training. Now a member of the society of shoe fitters MSSF, Ginny is motivated by achieving her store’s budget, looking after customers and making them happy. She puts high importance on making sure her team enjoy their day at work while being successful.

Her earliest memory of the company was in 1999, going to the Charles Clinkard head office for her interview where she met Charles for the first time. She was extremely nervous but he made her feel comfortable. Following two successful interviews, she has now been at Charles Clinkard for over 20 years. Quickly establishing herself as a capable manager, Ginny was nominated as ‘Best Manager’ in the 2011 Drapers Footwear Awards. She has also taken on the role of training and development manager since, in addition to managing the York store.
