Customer Reviews:

"Just bought my second pair of shoes from this shop. Quality is excellent and the lady who served me was so helpful. Redcar is a fantastic place to shop especially on Friday Market days. Clinks is easy to find close to the clock opposite the egg stall - 7th January, David"

The North Yorkshire seaside town of Redcar has been home to a Charles Clinkard store since 1953. One of Charles Clinkard’s founding stores; you can’t miss the distinctive large red plane upstairs within its children’s range. The customer focused and brand abundant store offers an extensive range of footwear and accessories for men, women, boys and girls, as well as a specialist fitting service in its children’s department. Located on Redcar’s main high street close to the town’s iconic King Edward VII-dedicated clock monument, the best place to park is Morrison’s car park where parking is free for customers. Excellent bus and train links are in close proximity to the store (Redcar Central Station being a 5 minute walk from the store and the grade II listed clock a primary bus stop for the town centre).

A prospering holiday destination during Victorian times, Redcar is known for its sea front as well as its deep industrial roots. A trip to Redcar is not complete without a tray of Fish and Chips doused in salt and vinegar as you take in the breath-taking views of its beautiful sand beach. Take a trip down the Esplanade for the town’s greatest delicacy- the refreshing Lemon Top at Pacitto’s iconic ice cream shop, or buy yourself a vintage cinema ticket for the town’s revamped Regent cinema. Its vertical pier provides unrivalled views of the area, an industrial landscape so mesmerising North East director Ridley Scott based Blade Runner’s (1982) opening scene on it. The warmer months bring the popular Redcar Races to town, if you want a good excuse to dress up.

Steve manages the unique Redcar store; supporting his team and driving customer interaction and sales. His main focus is to ensure that all customers leave the store happy as a result of the excellent customer service they have received and the store’s immaculate presentation. He will then concentrate the rest of his time on processing web orders, overseeing deliveries as well as completing admin duties and store merchandising.

With his first memory of Charles Clinkard being fitted for shoes as a child in the Newcastle store, the keen Newcastle United fan is motivated to succeed by hitting his budgets and targets given, maintaining high standards within his store and focusing on customers. 12 years of service now under his belt, Steve has worked in retail since he was 19, progressing to manager level in a few different companies before becoming manager at Dalton Park in County Durham. Upon this store closing its doors in 2017, he became manager of our Redcar store.

Onto a topic Steve is very well versed in (shoes), he has always been a big fan of Rieker because of their great quality and fantastic value, and his favourite shoes ever owned were a pair of the iconic Converse All Star trainers when he was younger.
