Customer Reviews:

"Fantastic service and welcoming staff at Cribbs Causeway. Very knowledgeable staff and not too pushy. Came away with a pair of my favourite Gabor Montana shoes as Gabor have stopped making Virginia; and also armed with the advice of how to keep them looking their best. Thank you so much, highly recommend you. Traveled quite far to get there but worth it. Will be back in with children soon!"

The Horsefair Shopping Centre is a popular shopping destination in Wetherby, made up of retail giants like Morrison’s, Marks and Spencer and Boots.  This is the convenient residence of the Charles Clinkard store, and has been for over 20 years. Park in Morrison’s car park (free for 2 hours if you’re a customer) or the Wilderness Car Park, which with 185 spaces, is also free for 2 hours.  The town’s bus station is a 5 minute walk from the store, a hub for the town’s local and regional bus and coach links.

Prominent within the historic market town for its modern exterior, nice environment and pleasant staff, Charles Clinkard makes a statement in Wetherby with its recent renovations. Managed by Mark, the store stocks an exciting mix of men’s, women’s, boys and girls footwear and accessories, and provides a specialist fitting service! Like Mrs Hunter, one of the store’s well known regulars, every loyal customer is valued by the store, culminating in a warm, community feel upon entering.

Settled on the banks of the River Wharfe, the historic market town previously a prominent crossing place and staging post on the old Great North Road between London and Edinburgh, Wetherby consequently has an abundance of historic coaching inns. Also known for its racecourse, the quaint town offers many eateries offering quality home cooked food, including No.23 The Market Place Delicatessen where you can grab a panini and coffee while you chill out following a successful spending spree. Follow this up with a walk by the River Wharfe, beautiful on a summer’s day with an ice cream in-hand. Conclude the day with a visit to the Swan and Talbot, one of the town’s oldest coaching inns (first licenced in 1678!) for some traditional pub grub and a snapshot of the town’s past.

With his first memory of Charles Clinkard walking past the Leeds store’s fantastic brass windows when he was working for shoe retailer Stylo Barratts, Mark has been the Wetherby store Manager for 12 years. Driven by the desire to sink his teeth into any challenge that arises, he recounts his typical work day. Beginning by opening up his store and the warehouse, he checks emails, floats the tills, discusses the approaching day with his assistant manager and staff, and makes sure KRP’s are out and set for the day. His main focus is on the shop floor monitoring his staff to make sure every customer is correctly served. If new stock is delivered he books it in and gets it out onto the shop floor ASAP. Mark’s loves taking the time to speak to his customers, helping them find their perfect pair of shoes!

With an abundance of experience in the shoe industry, the subsequent shoe connoisseur is loving the black Loake Sharp in store at the moment; his favourite pair of all time being some Barker brogues that he’s had for 30 years- now so well worn they are like slippers. Upon winning the lottery, he would most probably still shop for shoes at Charles Clinkard! The life and soul of any party, Mark loves to dance. Also counting walking in the Dales as one of his favourite past times, he hit the big 60 this January and has also received the High Sheriff's Award for Bravery.
