Customer Reviews:
Just been in to Darlington to get my little girls school shoes all the staff were nice and friendly but the girl who served us Eve made mine and my little girls day, she found a spare gift for my little girls Lelli Kellys and was all round a lovely young lass, she also measured my daughters feet quick and fuss free not only this the service was quick and organised meaning we could be in and out. Thankyou! P.s I did ring the store and the lady on the phone couldn’t have been more helpful and also praised how hard her girls work. Keep it up!
Made an appointment for my 8yr old autistic son. Annabel at the Darlington store looked after him. Fantastic service from start to finish it has been the best experience I’ve had getting my son new shoes/trainers. Annabel brought out a bag of sensory toys to keep him occupied and engaged with him throughout the fitting I left with a very calm child today which has never happened before will definitely be back in the summer.
Taking residence in what was once the Williams music store on Blackwellgate in the heart of the town centre, Darlington became home to Charles Clinkard on the 18th July 2007. Ken who was Charles Clinkard’s Merchandise Manager for a while took pleasure in spooking staff with tales of his Dad’s ghost causing havoc within the old building as Fred was the previous owner. With an array of branded men’s, women’s, boy’s and girl’s footwear and accessories, combined with skilled staff excelling in customer service and children’s shoe fitting, customers can visit the store satisfied they will receive their best possible shopping experience.
Ten minutes walk from Darlington’s Railway Station and five from its bus station, the Charles Clinkard store is conveniently situated in front of a large car park where you can park for £1 an hour Monday to Saturday or £1 all day on a Sunday.
Famously pioneering the first public railway, Darlington is a town steeped in history. It was the starting point for the first passenger railway journey on the Stockton and Darlington line in 1825, consisting of ‘Locomotion Number One’ transporting passengers as well as coal, and even the Yarm band towards the end of its trip! Unwind after a fruitful trip to our Charles Clinkard Darlington store at The Hoskins or The Quakerhouse for a small glass of red, or browse the independent coffee shops for a little rest before continuing your shopping trip.
Walk four minutes from the store and you’ll find a leisure complex featuring multiple restaurants, a cinema and a hotel if you want to maximise your stay in the town. Why not also pay a visit to Darlington’s Brick Train Monument or the Head of Steam Darlington Railway Centre and Museum, within the old North Road Station building, one of the oldest railway stations in the world (which is also along the legendary 1825 route). Alternatively, the town’s newly refurbished theatre puts on various engaging shows and a pantomime.
Stephanie, the manager of the Darlington branch has been with Charles Clinkard for just under a year. Since joining the company, Stephanie has said that her favourite thing about Charles Clinkard is how family orientated the brand is, and how welcoming and supportive everyone has been. Each day at work is different for Stephanie, but customer care and staff satisfaction is always a priority and Stephanie strives to keep a positive and happy atmosphere for those around her.
In her free time, Stephanie loves to spend time as a family with her 5 year old daughter, including days out to the beach and enjoying an ice cream and fun in the amusements!
Favouring the brand Gabor, Stephanie says they are the comfiest she has ever experienced and would always recommend to those that spend a lot of time on their feet like she does! Stephanie's top shoe care tip would be too always waterproof your shoes, as in the long run it will make your life much easier!
