Our Charles Clinkard Burford store has been open since 2016 and is situated within the high street which presents many pubs, eateries and other retailers. Our store catches the eye because of its impeccable presentation and wide range of products, paired with its welcoming customer focused culture. Free parking is found on the High Street, where there is also an array of bus links to the surrounding areas. The Shipton Railway Station is around an 8-minute taxi ride from the store and Burford car park is just on the other side of the River Windrush with 199 spaces. The store still has the original fireplace and many original features.
Nestled in the Cotswold Hills of West Oxfordshire sits the ‘Gateway’ to the Cotswolds, a medieval town upon the River Windrush, Burford. Home of Oxford Blue cheese production, the picturesque town is blessed with a wide range of eateries serving delicious food to a high standard. In particular, Huffkins offers the most delicious coffee and cakes, and the ideal location to wind down after a successful shopping trip at Charles Clinkard. Why not treat your palette by ordering a Cotswold Fruits herbal tea paired with the mouth-watering Cotswold rarebit. A masterpiece of mature cheddar, Cotswold cured ham, and pears on toasted bread, complemented by fresh salad and a spicy tomato and caramelised onion chutney. In a town brimming with so many historical buildings, it is difficult to choose which to study first. Burford Church with it’s amazing architecture, or the Tolsey museum, one of the town’s oldest attractions housed inside a distinctive black and white timber fronted Tudor building are a good place start, along with Warwick Hall which sits upon the river.
Karen is the manager of our Burford store and has been with the company for almost 1 year. A typical day in the shop usually involves meeting the locals and tourist visitors who love the Cotswold stone buildings. Part of what she enjoys the most about being a part of the Charles Clinkard team is the feeling of being involved with a family environment. Out of all the brands the store sells her personal favourite and what she would recommend is Skechers due to their practical and comfortable designs. Outside of work Karen main interest is music.
The top tip she would give to customers for shoe care is to always clean the shoes after wearing with a good polish to keep the leather supple and looking great and spray regularly with one of our protector sprays that we stock.
