Watching your child make their first few unaided steps will undoubtedly be one of your proudest moments. While you won’t be able to curb your child’s need to explore, you can equip them with well-fitting and comfortable shoes to aid them on their adventures. In most cases, children will begin to walk between the ages of 9 and 18 months. Walking all depends on the rate at which the required leg muscles develop and this can differ drastically between children so you shouldn’t worry if your child isn't walking by a certain age.

When selecting your child’s first pair of shoes we recommend that you keep the following in mind:

Children’s feet at this stage of development tend to grow at a rate of approximately three      whole shoe sizes a year and due to this we recommend that you have your child’s feet                  measured every six to eight weeks by a trained fitter to ensure a secure and comfortable fit.

Our friendly children's fitting teams are on hand to ensure your child's shoes find the             balance between growing room and fit. Shoes which allow room to grow are important                 however fit should not be compromised.

We stock a wide range of leather and synthetic shoes that are durable yet still ensure that      children’s feet are allowed to bend and move naturally.

A pair of first shoes that have fully adjustable fastenings and a padded ankle collar are a  smart move as they mean that an optimum fit and support can be achieved.
