Homemade Foot Spa

After a long day there’s nothing we like better than kicking off our shoes and putting our feet up. When all we want is a cosy night in, nothing helps us relax quite like a foot spa. You can make one at home, with natural and cheap ingredients that you may already have in your cupboard! Follow these three simple steps to make these at home feet treats – the perfect night in recipe.

Soak, scrub, powder and unwind.

Here’s how to make each…

Soak

You will need:

Epsom Salt (1/2 cup)
Lavender Oil
Tea Tree Oil

Fill a bowl with warm water and dissolve the salt. Add 3 drops of lavender oil and 4 drops of tea trea oil. It’s a good idea to put a towel beneath the bowl incase you splash, and keep another towel at hand for when you’re finished. Soak feet for around 20 minutes, then scrub any dead skin with a pumice stone.

Top Tip! Add marbles to the water to massage your feet whilst you’re soaking them.

Scrub

You will need:

Brown Sugar (1 cup)
Almond Oil (1/2 cup)
Tea Tree Oil

Add the 3 drops of tea tree to the almond oil and sugar and mix together well. Massage into your feet, focusing on any rough patches. Rinse well.

Top Tip! Add some sand for a free, natural exfoliant.

Powder

You will need:

Baking Soda (1 cup)
Tea Tree Oil
Peppermint oil
Lavender Oil

Combine 2 drops of tea tree oil, 7 drops of peppermint and 3 drops of lavender oil with the baking soda and rub into feet before putting on socks.

Did you know Tea tree oil is renowned for its antifungal properties – excellent for combating athlete’s foot, toenail fungus and helping to prevent infection in cuts and scratches.

Top Tip! Do this last thing at night to wake up to super soft feet.

You can store any extra mixtures in air tight containers to use again. Try to treat your feet once at least once a week to make them soft and smooth, ready to bare in your favourite sandals come warmer weather. Or why not wrap them up with some homemade labels to make a great gift?
