Wimbledon Need-to-Know & Tennis Lessons: London and beyond

Tennis fever is set to bounce into town as Wimbledon is with us once more, and whatever the weather tennis will be played.

It’s day 7 and Laura Robson, who was bidding to become the first British woman to reach the quarter-finals at SW19 since Jo Durie in 1984, has been knocked out in the forth round.  Serena Williams lost to Sabine Lisicki, as Andy Murray takes to the centre court this afternoon to take on Mikhail Youzhny and defend British pride.

Wimbledon is the is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and has been played since 1877. It is considered to be the most prestigious of all the four Grand Slams and is the only one to be played on the traditional grass.

There is a strict all-white-apparel rule – Roger Federer somewhat upset the traditionalists during his first round match by sporting bold orange soles on his white trainers! The fashion police were called in – busted!
