This weekend welcomes the Glasgow Mela, Scotland’s largest multicultural festival, which promises rambunctious family-friendly festival fun for all.
Located in the stunning open-air venue of Kelvingrove Park, just a 10 minute walk away from the Charles Clinkard Glasgow shoe shop, this vibrant festival showcases some fantastic talent. With headline acts including the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, as well as percussion beats from Dhol Foundation and Bhangra acts Sukshinder Shinda and Jaz Dhami, there’s certainly something for everyone.
It’s not all music either, with Bollywood City host to a Grosvenor Cinema marquee screening Bollywood films all weekend, as well as the chance to truly embrace the spirit of the Mela with free Bollywood-style makeovers and henna body art adding to the atmosphere.
The bustling Mela Bazaar will give you the chance to uncover unique gifts and accessories, with traditional textiles and enticing scents as well as other take-home temptations.
And of course there’ll be food, with a whole host of caterers offering delicious and varied feasting options from across the globe. And the best bit is, entry to the Mela is entirely free!
If you’re in the city why not pop by our Glasgow shoe shop; you’ll spot it by the bunting decorating the façade as well as the scrummy cupcakes we’re giving away on Saturday!

Let us know if you’ll be heading to the Glasgow Mela this weekend, and why not send us your snaps on Facebook? We’d love to see a pic of your henna-painted feet in a pair of Charles Clinkard shoes – upload it to our competition page and you could win a year’s supply of shoes!
