Wedding season is firmly upon us and you’ve already made the big decisions: you’ve bought your outfit, chosen your shoes and picked out the perfect accessories.
However, there a still some important minutiae to be finessed before you’re ready to go, namely packing that cute clutch in preparation for the big day!
It can be super stressful trying to squeeze a-million-and-one things into your carefully co-ordinated clutch, so we’ve narrowed down the list to the 8 wedding guest handbag essentials you need.
Be it at the beach or in a bar, enhance your event with these wedding handbag essentials:
1. Perfume Sample
Keep yourself smelling sweet by popping a sample-size perfume in your clutch. A mini deodorant will also help to keep you feeling fresh, so you won’t have any inhibitions when it comes to getting down on the dancefloor at the reception.
2. Tissues
Weddings are extremely emotional events with plenty of tear-jerking moments, so if you’re prone to a bit of blubbering, take tissues. Panda-eyes and tear-streaked cheeks wasn’t the look you were going for this morning.
3. Confetti
Throwing confetti over the bride and groom is a long-held tradition – and it’s a practice that produces some wonderful wedding photos! Be sure you buy environmentally friendly biodegradable paper, and it’s always a good idea check the local rules first!
4. Sunglasses
You don’t want to be snapped squinting in the background of the wedding pictures, so pack a pair of sunglasses to help your eyes adjust as you leave the ceremony. Classic shapes look great with more formal attire – seek out cat-eyes for a touch of Hollywood glamour.
5. Safety pin
Have you ever attending a wedding event where someone didn’t need a safety pin? Be the great guest who comes to the rescue and helps avoid that dress disaster.
6. Plasters
If you’ve picked your shoes carefully, your feet should stay comfortable, though we highly recommend giving new shoes a test run before wearing them on the big day! A full day of celebrating can always take its toll, so bring along some plasters to help you keep dancing long after sundown.
7. Umbrella
If the weather forecast is uncertain then be prepared. Pick a colourful brolly to strike an appropriately upbeat note. You never know, you could offer shelter to another (attractive) guest…
8. Compact Mirror
A quick top-up of lippy throughout the day keeps your pout looking lush, and is essential post-toast. Avoid dashing to the ladies room between speeches by carrying a compact for a quick lip slick whenever you need it.
And one to leave in your bag…
9. Camera / Phone
Of course you want to document the couple’s special day, but chances are they’ve paid a professional to take some lovely photos throughout. Who wants a wedding album full of photos of people playing with their phones? Leave your phone alone until the reception, and don’t upload any snaps to social media, especially of the bride, without her say-so. She’ll probably want to put her own special photo out first, so think back to the first rule that every good wedding guest should follow: don’t upstage the bride!
