“A Knight’s Trail In Lincoln”To celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln and the Charter of the Forrest, 36 painted Knights created a trial across the city during the summer. Local businesses were invited to paint their own mini knight to display in store. Em and the team at Lincoln sent us a photograph of their Knight, complete with shoe themed armour. As he would be living in the store window, the team decided to name their knight Trev in honour of our window display manager. |

“The Vikings Landed In York”April saw our York store invaded by Vikings. They were hunting for the perfect pair of shoes to wear to Jorvic Viking Centre’s reopening… We hear they were all very pleasant despite their historical reputation. |
“Happy Ten Years At Clinkard’s To Sim and Laura!”Sim began working at the Darlington branch in 2007 as the assistant manager and head of the Children’s department before leaving to head up our store in Stoke. Sim has always worked in retail since leaving sixth form and enjoys the ever changing environment. Laura began her career with Charles Clinkard as Floor Manager in 2007 at our Bristol store before taking the role of Assistant Manager and now Store Manager. Laura was drawn into footwear retailing as she enjoys working in a team and meeting a variety of people – so be sure to pop in and say hello! We’d like to thank you both for all your hard work and dedication to the company over the past decade! |

“Glasgow Took A Step Back In Time”At the start of the year, a gentleman visited our Glasgow store and shared an interesting story with the team about the store’s past. He told us that way back in the 1950’s, 149 Byres Road was a greengrocer store named J. Macfarlane. Our historically clued up visitor even gave the team an original bag from the stores greengrocer days! |
“We Welcomed Romsey & New Milton To The Family In May”This year we said a very warm welcome to two new concession stores located within Bradbeers department stores in Romsey and New Milton. To find your nearest Charles Clinkard store, please visit our store locator page here. |

“Competition Winners Visit Meadowhall”This summer, our Shoes For Your Class competition returned and this years lucky winners were Thrybergh Primary School from Rotherham. The competition asked that children design a pair of shoes to help them in their dream job. This years winning shoes were designed by Oliver Bradley, aged nine, who created a pair of ‘Technical (Cybernetic) Shoes’ that included features such as auto propelled mode, a Bluetooth antenna and a USB charging port. Oliver not only won a brand new pair of shoes for himself but also won a pair for every child in his class! Congratulations Oliver and we hope that you and your schoolmates are pleased with your new shoes! |
