Double Retirement for Middlesbrough

The last few weeks have been a busy time of change for our Middlesbrough branch, as both the Assistant Manager and Children’s Department Manager made the decision to kick off their shoes and retire. Led by Manager Gina, our Middlesbrough branch will always hold a special place in our hearts, as it was the first Charles Clinkard store to open when husband and wife duo Charles and Eveline Clinkard took their first steps into the footwear industry in 1924.

Mary, the Assistant Manager, joined the Clinkard family over 30 years ago and has been an integral part of the team since Day 1. During her time working for the company, Mary has served numerous celebrities, including the likes of Graeme Souness and Fabrizio Ravanelli, and has also proudly worked alongside several of her family members, including Granddaughter Lily, who currently works in the Middlesbrough store part-time whilst studying for her A-Levels. After making the difficult decision to retire, Mary is now looking forward to spending time with her doting husband Kenny, alongside their 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren!

This month, Children’s Manager June also made the decision to put her feet up and retire after 27 years of service. June and husband Stephen lived in Germany for 8 years, where Stephen was based as a Sergeant in the Royal Corp of Signals before returning to England in 1992, during which time June took her first steps into the world of footwear. Starting out as a Sales Consultant, June rose through the ranks and became Manager of the Children’s Department in 2011 where she was widely recognised by many regular customers. June and Stephen now have numerous holidays planned and are looking forward to spending more time with their two grandchildren, Georgia and Harry.

We’d like to thank Mary and June for all the hard work and commitment that they have shown over the years – they will be truly missed by both staff and customers! We’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Leeann, as she takes a step forward and fulfills her new role as Assistant Manager.
