Our Favourite Films To Watch Over Easter Bank Holiday

Though the weather outside is changing, we all still love a snuggle in front of the TV as a family, or for some alone time. Grab some popcorn and turn your living room into a den or hire an outdoor tepee and cinema and watch your favourite film on the big screen.

Whether you enjoy a rom com, comedy, or children’s animation, we’ve put together some of our favourite flicks for the Easter Holidays.

Keep on reading if you want some film inspiration this Easter holidays.

Hop

A great animation film for all the family, Hop was released in 2011 and features a bunny, plenty of Easter chicks and a chocolate style factory. Great for little ones but also humour for the adults Hop features James Marsden, Russell Brand, and David Hasselhoff to name a few. This film will have your little ones singing and dancing, and of course wanting lots of Easter chocolate while they watch this fun-filled film.

Risen

One for the adults, Risen is a Biblical Drama/Adventure film that follows Roman Tribune ‘Clavius’ who is tasked with finding the body of Jesus Christ, who rose from the dead. Released in 2016, the film stars Joseph Fiennes, Tom Felton, and Peter Firth and is a great watch or those who enjoy a little bit of biblical history. Rated at a 15, we’d recommend watching this one on your own or once the children have gone to bed.

Peter Rabbit

It’s not a children’s Easter film if it doesn’t involve a bunny. Peter rabbit was released in 2018 as a live-action/computer-animated comedy film, based upon the character of the same name created by Beatrix Potter. It sees Peter Rabbit and his three sisters enjoy the vegetable garden of Mrs McGregor, however, when a new relative moves in they do their best to get rid of the bunnies but Peter puts up a good fight. Another enjoyable animation for the kids, as well as adults who may have grown up with the classic Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit story.

Jesus Christ Superstar

An Easter classic on the West-End as well as in film, Jesus Christ Superstar is the ultimate Easter weekend film full of singing and dancing. The film tells the story of the final 6 days in the life of Jesus Christ through the troubled eyes of Judas Iscariot. Too often mis-labelled a musical, this film is a ‘rock opera’ and there are no spoken lines throughout the entire film. A definite great watch for all of the family this Easter!
