Has someone surprised you with a random act of kindness?
A day designed to include everyone, Random Act of Kindness Day is here to make us take time out of our busy schedules to think about others and help to make the world a happier place by doing something kind for someone else. It could be someone you know, or it could be for a complete stranger. And it doesn’t have to cost you anything.
Here’s a few ideas to get you started:
– Give someone a genuine compliment
Tell your colleague how great their work is. Tell your friends how good they make you feel when you’re around them. Tell a stranger you love their shoes!
– Hold the lift for someone
Even if they’re not right by the lift door when it closes.
– Donate an item to the food bank
There’s likely to be a collection bin in your local supermarket, so drop in a non-perishable item after your shop.
– Give someone your seat on your commute
Whether it’s the tube, the train or the bus, offer up your seat to someone who’s standing.
– Make a donation to charity
It doesn’t have to be a huge amount, but a few pounds here and there can make a massive difference. Why not donate to Butterwick Hospice through our Just Giving page today?

– Make the tea at the office
Offer to do the tea rounds today and keep everyone’s cup topped up. You could even offer to do the dishes too!
While these might all seem like small things, they can have a huge impact on someone’s day!
In the spirit of the occasion, we decided to surprise a few of our customers across the country with a Random Act of Kindness treat at the checkout: their shoes for free!

Let us know what you’ve done to be kind to someone else – or if you’ve been on the receiving end! We’d love to hear your stories!

February 17, 2017 at 11:00 pmHi!
My 2 yr old daughter & I were on the receiving end of your random acts of kindness today at your store in Cribbs Causeway Bristol. I was very overwhelmed and wanted to say that really and truly your assistants are ALWAYS fantastic, not just today!
We’ve shopped there for a little while and my daughter genuinely LOVES shoe shopping and I think that’s down in large part to how well your staff have ALWAYS engaged with her! For example, today, prior to being informed of their random act of kindness towards us, the Store Manager told me that my daughter had told her that the shoes were ‘messy’… instead of ignoring the ramblings of a 2yr old, she engaged with her and asked one of the Assistants to start tidying up the shelves!! ☺️
Thank you once again!
