We regret to announce that our Keswick store will be permanently closing Saturday 13th June. From Sunday 17th May onwards, the store will be closed every Sunday. We would like to sincerely thank all our customers for their support and custom over the years.
Our Keswick store is situated in the heart of the market town, in the beautiful Lake District. There are several options to reach us, if you are visiting by car there is pay and display parking available in many of the town’s car parks with the closest being Bell Close Car Park which is only a short stroll from both the clearance and main shop. If you are visiting via public transport, the local bus station is only a 5-minute walk, with some beautiful views of the surrounding fells to take in. The closest train station is Penrith, which is around a 20-minute drive from Keswick with public transport arriving hourly. Like some of our other branches, Keswick has the main retail store on the marketplace and a clearance store at the back of the building. When attending the Keswick store, you’ll receive a warm welcome and feel a part of the family, with the amazing team ensuring customer service is top of their priorities.
Keswick is a beautiful market town, set in the idyllic Lake District National Park; which became a UNESCO Worls Heritage Site on the 9th of July 2017. It is an amazing place surrounded by the Northern Lake District fells and popular with walkers and mountaineers, it is a stunning place to visit and for many of our staff a place to call home. The town remains a market town with these happening biweekly on a Thursday and Saturday with lovely artisan stalls to see supporting the produce the local area has to offer. The town boasts some great independent shops and if you’re after some art there are several fantastic galleries within the town and homeware shops. There are many fantastic places to eat and drink, whether you want a coffee, something to eat or a picnic in Fitz Park looking onto Latrigg and the River Derwent. If you are wanting to be more towards the lakeside, Derwentwater has the perfect places for picnics looking onto the fells, you can plan the Wainwrights from here too, with their being 214 in total.
The town was also famous for the slate mining in the Borrowdale Valley which is still mined at Honister today. One of the main landmarks in Keswick which is home to the tourist information for the town and was gifted to the resident during the mining period from German miners at the time who built it due to the hospitality they received. It has since become an iconic part of Keswick and is pictured in many photographs and paintings of the town
The manger Tracey has been with Charles Clinkard for over 10 years, with a typical day in the shop starting by opening and ensuring the administration is done, then once set for the day her and her team enjoy a coffee while talking through the days jobs ahead and making sure that everyone is aware of the days goals. Tracey and the team then get to their favourite part of the day – opening, so that they can welcome all their lovely customers. The shop normally closes around 5/5:30pm then they close together and make sure the shop is clean and tidy ready for the next day.
Out of the amazing brands and styles we sell Tracey’s favourite has to be the Gabor Wisdom trainer, which she admits she owns a few pairs of as they’re super comfortable, versatile and a staple for a capsule wardrobe. She wears them for work and cannot recommend them enough, plus the half sizes are handy for people, she also loves the Roka bags and purses, with her purse being one of her favourites as it is handy just to pop in your pocket whilst on a walk but useful for
