A New Year, A New You, right? The top New Year Resolutions are always to lose weight, get in shape and get organised – this year is no exception. We’ve all finally finished gorging on Christmas leftovers and emptied every sweet tin. After a top New Year’s Eve celebration, we’ve got our determined faces on as we set out to beat the bloat and get lean in 2013. So once you’ve recovered from the inescapable New Year’s Day hangover (off to a good start) it’s time to start denying yourself those chips and chocolates. Put down that drink, tie up those trainers, save those pennies and whilst you’re rescheduling your work so you’re on top of it, you might as well book that cookery class.
Come to think of it, this self-imposed abstinence and organisation is starting to sound a little less fun. New Year Resolutions will inevitably be broken within the month, making us feel even worse about ourselves.
This year, to save us from tears, we’re going to do something special.

We’re going to take the guilt out of breaking your resolution. We’ve got some helpful and motivational hints to help you stick to your word. But we’re also seeking out some loopholes, so that even if you break your resolution, you can still pretend you didn’t. We won’t tell anyone…
1) I won’t fill my bag with everything but the kitchen sink.( I will take the kitchen sink too.)
By switching bags to find one to compliment your outfit every day, not only will you avoid the temptation to just carry everything around all the time, but you’ll stay organised and remember where things are. You’ll also feel fabulous and confident!
2) I will step out of my comfort zone. (By not wearing my slippers and onesie out of the house.)
Something simple such as wearing heels when you wouldn’t normally can help you to reach new heights (literally)! Or why not try something new, such as a new sport or class?
3) I will make more time for friends and family. (That is, more time for themselves.)
Socialising shouldn’t be a chore – and no, Facebook does not count!
4) I will appreciate the little things. (By going to see The Hobbit.)
By taking a glass-is-half-full approach, you’ll instantly feel a lot of weight lifted from your shoulders. Have a bit of me-time, run a hot bath or catch up on the Christmas telly.
5) I will stop snacking for no reason. (And start snacking for Very Important Reasons.)
It’s actually better to eat little and often anyway. If the experts say so, I’m with them!
6) I will have a clear out and get organised. (So I have room for new things. Like shoes (oh come on, we had to)!)
If your wardrobe has fallen into a cloudy, grey, dull rut, now is the time to resolve to give a little love to those fabulous shoes you never have the opportunity to wear. Show them off & look fabulous every day! With the January sales – who can resist?
Unfortunate as it is, it’s time to move beyond the Crimbo Limbo and out of your solid state of slobbery, and start your new year on the right foot! But don’t dive in head first, strut into the New Year in style!

January 5, 2014 at 2:11 pmWould love to spend more with you but I am one of the tall women of York needing size 43/9 shoes. Steel a march on the other York shops as they are rarely stocked. Make it your resolution to satisy this need…..
